2024 Community Activist
of the Year Award
The Blue Heart Foundation
In December 2024, Detangle Your Thoughts was awarded the Community Activist award for their commitment to the healing of black women's mental health and well-being. This recognition exposed DYT to opportunities and partnerships that will benefit the black community of San Diego on a greater level.
The Blue Heart Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering underserved African American male youth through mentorship, leadership development, college preparation, and emotional well-being.

First United Methodist Church
Racial Justice Grant
In November 2024, DYT received the First United Methodist Church Racial Justice Grant. These funds will allow the nonprofit to organize community events, continue and expand our free monthly meetings, give discounted therapy to black women and men, and provide physical tools that will deepen their connection to healing.
The First United Methodist Church recognizes organizations that actively promote racial justice in San Diego County. Grants were awarded to organizations working in Health Care Equity and Mental Health Services.
